A one-person web studio

Websites & web apps, built from the roots up.

Real Roots Media is the studio of Afif Bin Alam. I design, build and look after websites, web apps and the systems behind them — and you deal with me directly, from the first call to long after launch.

Selected work

Three things I built — and still run.

These aren't mock-ups. They're live products, and I built every part of them myself: the design, the code, the servers and the search rankings. Running my own products is how I learned what a site needs to hold up once real people arrive.

01 — Exam revision

Live

PaperMunch

Every past paper, munched.

A free revision site for IGCSE and A Level students. Every Cambridge and Edexcel past paper opens on a desk in the browser that students can write on with a stylus — and Otto, the resident octopus, turns past papers into two-day crash plans and topic forecasts.

02 — Live data site

Live

ESC Predictions

A fan guide, built like a data product.

An independent guide to the first Eurovision Song Contest Asia — live odds and predictions, a page for every country and national final, and a ranking-card maker for fans. Underneath sits an archive of every Eurovision since 1956. Built SEO-first from a $0 budget to compete with long-established fan sites.

03 — Chrome extension

Launching Nov 2026

Sortle

Your AI chats, sorted.

A Chrome extension that adds folders, search, pinned chats and saved prompts to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. Everything stays in the user’s own browser — no servers, no account — and Pro is a one-time purchase, sold through Paddle.

How it works

How a project grows.

  1. 01Talk

A straight conversation about what you need. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll tell you — and point you somewhere better.

  2. 02Plan

A written plan and quote: what gets built, how long it takes and what it costs — before any work starts.

  3. 03Build

Design and code, shared as they take shape. You watch real progress on a real link — no big reveal at the end.

  4. 04Launch

Live on your domain — fast, checked on real phones, and set up so search engines understand it from day one.

  5. 05Tend

Websites need looking after. I stay on hand for fixes, updates and whatever you want to grow next.

Hello — I’m Afif Bin Alam, and Real Roots Media is my studio. I didn’t come up through an agency — I learned by building real things, putting them in front of real people, and fixing them when they broke.

Keeping the studio to one person means nothing gets lost between a salesperson, a project manager and a developer, because they’re all me. I take on a small number of projects at a time, so each one gets done properly — and I’m still around when it needs looking after.

A few sentences is enough. I read every message myself — and if I’m not the right fit for it, I’ll say so.
